Clik here to view.WebOK specialise in custom coding, meaning we build a website from scratch, and don’t use “off the shelf” templates. This allows us to create to our customer’s needs, as well as being able to keep the website inside all the rules the web has.
We have been known to build a website (including an on-line shop) in under two weeks. A more realistic time-scale for the launch of a brand new website is between 6 – 8 weeks, after the initial agreement.
Here I’ve listed the things that we need from you before we can build your website – the quicker you get this information to us, the quicker we can get your site launched.
1. A list of key-phrases:
Find out more about key-phrases here. These are really important as Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) is going to be your main way for potential customers to find your website. SEO needs to be considered before you build a website, not after: SEO is the foundation of your website, not an extension. We take your list of key-phrases and analyse them to create a bigger list, with search statistics, which we then use to help you decide what pages you should have and how the site should be set up.
2. Likes and dislikes:
To help us design your website, it really helps to know websites that you like and websites that you don’t – and why!
3. Images and designs:
Logos, headed paper, leaflets (sent to us digitally). Any branding that you already have will help us in creating a few designs for you to choose from. There is no point in starting to build a website with totally different colours/ fonts to your current branding!
4. Website Content
Once you have chosen a design, the next thing we need from you is content. This needs to be written after the meeting AND after the keywords analysis, as each page needs to be optimised for its own specific key-phrase. Content is almost always the task that will take the longest when you build a website.
To help us help you, each page (decided on through the key-phrase analysis) needs to have at least three paragraphs on it, and be rich with information about that subject. Google ranks websites based on whether they believe you are a knowledgeable source of information on that subject, this is why Wikipedia is at the top of a lot of Google searches!
We encourage you to write your own content as no one knows more about your business that you. We do however have contact with copywriters, if you need help.
Website Maintenance
We also believe that when you build a website, it is not just a one-off thing – we’re in it for the long haul. Once your website is launched it is important from an SEO point of view, and for your customers to keep it updated. There are a number of ways to do this, for example:
- If you sell products on-line, this could be as simple as when you add new products, have the latest uploads show on the homepage.
- If you do a lot of things that you can write about, have a blog!
- Change your photos when they get dated.
- Re-read all of your content at least every six months to check that none of it has gone out of date.
Of course, we can help with pointing you in the right direction for your business.
