Changing the URL of your Facebook Page

When you start a Facebook page you are assigned a really long number, along with your page name as your URL. This becomes an issue when you are speaking to someone and want to tell them your Facebook URL, or if you want to put it on paperwork that you send to your customers.

Lots of places will say “search for us on Facebook” on their paperwork – but there could be another page out there with the same / similar name to you, and you might not even show up in the search at all if there are lots of pages / groups that have similar names to you. So, to make sure your customer finds your page, you need an easy to speak and write URL.

Fortunately, it’s really easy to change this. On your Facebook page admin panel, go to Edit Page >> Update Info >> Username. This is your URL. Once you have set your username, you can only change it once, so make sure you are happy with it before you click confirm!

One last thing, don’t worry if you or people you know have already linked to your Facebook page from their website or elsewhere using the URL with all the numbers – Facebook will automatically redirect that link to your new easy to read URL.
