More and more business are using social media to reach out to their customers. If you are one of these businesses, chances are you have added links from your website taking your customers to your social media profiles. (If you haven’t, I suggest you do!)
HOWEVER
were you aware that most social media sites have strict rules on the usage of their logos?
Facebook and Twitter are the most well-known and used social media sites; if you search Google for their icons, you will find lots of variations: different colours, textures, shapes and fonts. The usual reason for using a differently rendered icon is to make it fit in with the aesthetics of your site, however, by doing this, you are most likely contravening social media sites usage policies.
If you look on each social site, you will find that somewhere in their terms and conditions, they have a “logo usage” policy, and from here you can download the official logos to use.
To help you out, here are some direct links to the logo usage policies for some of the most popular social media sites – you might be surprised at how strict some of them are, and how relaxed others are!
