Listing your business page as your work on Facebook

I quite often end up talking to people through their Facebook profiles because of  posting and answering posts in various groups (Find out more about Facebook groups here), or being recommended to them through a mutual friend.

Sometimes it is about their work, but more often it is about something that might be a hobby, so I click through to their profile to see if it is a hobby, or their business. Most of the time they have something listed under “work”, which doesn’t click through to a Facebook page, however when I do a search for the exact phrase, I find a page.

By not making this part of your personal profile click through to your Facebook, you could be missing out on potential new “likers”!

I have found that not all pages can be made into your “job” – which makes sense – however most can. All you need to do to add your workplace as your “job” is :

  1. Go to your about section on your profile
  2. Click “edit” next to “work and education”
  3. Start typing the name of your page into the “Where have you worked?” box which appears
  4. Your page should appear in a drop down list (you may have to type more than just a few letters in for it to appear)
  5. Click on your page listing, and add details as Facebook prompts.

If you can’t find your page listed, it could be because your selected “type” of page isn’t considered a “job”. When choosing your page category, think about this – and remember, you can always change your page category if you want to!
